Perfectly synchronised
The operating principle of the SCHMIDT-KUPPLUNG coupling is based on a parallel crank mechanism. When a plate rotates, the rotational movement is transmitted during revolution absolutely uniformly to the next coupling plate by means of three or more elements of the same length, arranged on an identical pitch circle, through the build-up of alternating tensile and compressive forces. The central plate takes a clearly defined position depending on the length of the coupling link and the radial offset. Each coupling plate rotates centrically around its own axis.
Always in sync
The kinematics of the coupling links, which act like cranks and are arranged parallel to one another, ensure that all rotating parts have the same angular speed at all times, without phase shifts, regardless of the offset extent.
Unloaded shaft bearings
For a given offset, the central plate maintains its position in space, i.e. it rotates centrically around itself, so that no imbalance is generated. Due to the coupling system, no forces act on the shaft bearings and the coupling system runs without restoring forces.
